Livermore Falls, located in neighboring Campton and Holderness, was originally known as Little's Falls after the original settler, Moses Little. This property was acquired by Judge Arthur Livermore in 1827, earning its new name. The water power here allowed numerous businesses to thrive here over the next 200 years, including a saw mill, grist mill, tannery, shingle mill, fish hatchery, and pulp mill, along with plenty of houses, a boarding house and even the precursor to the current Speare Memorial Hospital.
